The Location:

Wessex Fertility was established in 1992 and is one of the UK’s longest standing IVF clinics. Due to the passion, expertise and reputation of our team, the clinic has grown into a leading fertility clinic and offers a full suite of treatment and diagnostic services, specialising PGT and surrogacy. Providing treatment to both NHS and private patients, Wessex Fertility performs approximately 500 fresh cycles and 500 frozen cycles per year. Conveniently located to the East of Southampton, a short distance from junction 7 of the M27, there is ample free parking for staff and patients around the building. We recently moved into our new building in 2024 and our brand-new laboratory is equipped with state of the art equipment and monitoring systems that support us in achieving excellent outcome KPI’s. Wessex Fertility also has a 5/5 inspection rating from the HFEA and excellent patient review scores.

The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a trained Embryologist to join our team of highly skilled and dedicated scientists. As well as providing a significant contribution to the clinical workload, the successful candidate will have opportunities to be involved in training junior embryologists, internal quality control, donor recruitment, organising imports/exports and supporting in the management of stored gametes/embryos.

This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week - weekend rotation will be required at approximately 1:4

Key Responsibilities:

• Full range of clinical procedures, including ICSI & vitrification

• Communicating with patients about treatment options and results

• Quality Management, assisting with audit & quality control/quality assurance

• Monitoring/maintaining consumables and equipment.

• Assisting with the donor recruitment process, imports/exports and management of stored gametes/embryos

• Assisting in training and induction of new and junior staff

• Regulatory Compliance

Job requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of a degree in Life Sciences, an MSc or PhD is preferable

• HCPC Registered (or immediately eligible)

• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience

• Fully trained in all clinical laboratory procedures, preferably including biopsy

• Good knowledge of the UK Regulatory Framework

• Must be self-motivated, eager to learn and have excellent time management skills.

• High level of attention to detailed and focused

• Excellent communication skills

Salary: Competitive (Depending on experience)
Location: TFP Wessex Fertility - Southampton
Working Hours: 37.5 Monday to Friday 
Weekend Working at approximately a 1:4

On-Call: Working approximately a 1:4 in coordination with your weekend (remunerated with a daily rate of pay in addition to your basic salary)

Pension: Dual contribution pension scheme

Holiday Entitlement: 27 Days + Bank holidays (pro rata)
